Happy times!(typical current energy sarcasm) Venus the goddess of beauty, love, relationships, money and pleasure starts its retrograde cycle in the deep, mysterious and intense sign of Scorpio on October 5th. Venus retrograde will last for 40 days, until November 15th when Venus goes direct at 25° Libra. There’s no coincidence that Venus is retrograde exactly for 40 days as 40 is a sacred number in pretty much every religion and is usually associated with fulfillment of promises, but only after a period of testing, trial and challenges – the 40 days trial Jesus had in the dessert fasting and fighting his demons, 40 years that Moses spent in the dessert after fleeing Egypt to the promised land and so on…
Venus Retrograde can totally feel like a difficult transit. We as humans are generally wired to avoid having to deal with unfinished business and this is certainly what Venus Retrograde can bring to the table: past lovers (including past life’s lovers), old friends, or repeating patterns in your relationships. Everything that Venus expresses at the energetic level together with Scorpio’s territory: death, sex, finances, and taboos – in general, what people hardly talk about – will be reviewed, analysed, confronted and scrutinized.
This transit can trigger a deep subconscious wound of buying things that we don’t need: things can look shiny on the outside but rotten on the inside so avoid buying very expensive gifts. In other words, during this phase illusion is real – whatever you see might not be. So, in order to avoid being taken over by it, proceed with caution (testing and one step at a time) with any decisions one must take during this period.
Also, there is the risk of thinking more with your reproductive organs (Scorpio) and not your brain, so DO try to resist the sex if you can, especially if you are single. You may get a series of red flags but still ignore them. A one-night stand during this time might seem harmless, but on a spiritual level, this goes far deeper. Your body is your temple so don’t give into the psychic energy vampires. You might find yourself drained for months afterwards. We might also cling to a past relationship, which is why this period can bring the return of old flames and karmic connections.
For those in existing relationships, uncomfortable truths can come to the surface. Things that the couple avoided dealing with will take a higher stand asking for immediate resolution or acceptance. Ugly secrets such as treason, cheating, debt from one or both partners may need to be confronted and dealt with. However, as mentioned, long term decisions such as marriage, divorce, pregnancy, buying an expensive asset, or making any long-term commitment should be carefully calculated as we cannot have an objective view on the situation and mistakes that could be avoided if we’d be cautious might manifest and cost us a lot to repair after the veil of this transit lifts up.
But in the end, this Venus Retrograde is not a bad transit.
The reason Venus Retrograde comes with difficult choices is to allow a new you to emerge from the flames – a better and more mature you – the phoenix bird symbolic for Scorpio energy:
During Venus Retrograde we might feel like retreating from socializing or from a relationship. This is allowing us to learn how to love ourselves more by giving ourselves what we want others to give or show us. It’s an ideal time for creativity that explores your inner world by making music, art or poetry just for yourself and not for the public.
Last but not least, the period is excellent for selling your own unwanted items and clean the closets.
The dates used in the interpretation to keep in mind during the entire transit:
October 5th – Venus goes retrograde at 10° Scorpio as an evening star
October 8th – New moon in Libra
October 24th – Full moon in Taurus
October 26th – Venus conjunct Sun Venus transitions to a morning star
October 31st – Venus returns to the sign of Libra
November 7th – New Moon in Scorpio
November 15th – Venus goes direct at 25° Libra
December 2nd – Venus re-enters Scorpio
December 18th – Venus returns to 10° Scorpio
Questions to ask ourselves before taking action/decisions:
- Do I really need this thing in my life right now?
- Can it wait until the period ends?
- Is this action/decision according to my higher good and others?
It all comes with being able to navigate the emotional roller-coaster and understand that there’s a deeper feeling that this period is trying to convey or show us and by falling into impatience it will just create resistance and a more painful process.
